Abstract of article:Description of how the leg load areas, vehicle routes, ground-based impacts and inspection responsibilities in multi-machine operations are harmonized to reduce interference.

While multiple cranes operate in the same area, the leg programmes for each equipment cannot be approved in isolation. The adjacent leg load may affect the same foundation through the earth, and the return of cranes, temporary storage of transport vehicles and components will also change the perimeter load. The project shall be unified in the location of the equipment, operational radius, leg area, component route and restricted area by capable personnel responsible for the assembly plan, and shall recognize the interface of responsibility for multiple lifts or adjacent stand-alone operations.

The flat layout shall indicate the retrogressive leg and the surface of the mats of each crane under the most unfavourable configuration, and verify the base pit, the underground pipeline, the backfilling area and the adjacent base. The leg area should not be used as a channel or parking space by other vehicles, nor should material be stacked around the pads. If the impact area of the leg load is likely to overlap, the ground-based analysis should be carried out by the engineer, and it cannot simply be assumed that there is no interaction between the two pads without contact.

Mobile cranes and stand-alone leg mats in large construction projects and new construction site plans

Mobile cranes and stand-alone leg mats in large construction projects (new construction site mapping)

On-site, a single inspection form may be used to record ground preparation, the size of the pad, the middle leg, the level of equipment and the weather for the crane, the leg pad and the area of operation. The key to connecting the different teams is the same set of change management: any crane position, weight, arm length, mass weight or change in vehicle route must be notified to the responsible person, confirming that no intrusion will be made into the support or reverse areas of the other equipment.

During the operation, clear command and monitoring responsibilities were assigned to observe the deposition of mats, surface cracks and equipment levels. The transfer of time loads is more complicated by multi-machine synergy and should be carried out in strict compliance with the approval steps to avoid the pre-positioning of an item of equipment in excess of the planned rate. After rainfall, proximity to excavation or ground-based disturbances, all affected leg areas were reviewed together and not only the crane that appeared to be deposited could be inspected.

The purchase of the leg cushions provided the maximum reversibility of the legs, the size of the legs, the ground-based permissible pressure and the handling requirements, respectively, and avoided the imposition of the same size over all cranes. The vendor is responsible for product advice and the overall coordination of the suspension works with site management. The management of the leg area as a shared controlled space can reduce hidden interference between equipment and make the inspection records truly traceable.
